Volunteering with You Mental
As a non-profit, volunteers are essential for the work we do here at You Mental. We have lots of different volunteering roles to get involved with - from admin, to wellbeing in the community.
Whether you want to volunteer regularly or have a spare hour here and there, we want to hear from YOU. Take a look at the current opportunities below and complete the volunteer application form.
We provide all of our volunteers with training, support, and we reimburse reasonable expenses.

Application Process
To become a volunteer with You Mental CIC, simply read the information below for your desired role (do not worry if you do not meet all of the criteria for your desired role, we still want to hear from you.)
Complete the application form.
Once our team has received your application they will reach out book an informal meeting.
If successful, we will check your references, complete a DBS check, give you a full induction and check you have everything you need to start your volunteering journey with You Mental.

Administrative Support (Volunteer)
Key Information:
Flexible Hours
Location: Working from home or office.
Key Responsibilities:
Dealing with incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Data entry, retrieval and database maintenance.
Filing and archiving.
Creating and managing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Scheduling meetings, taking minutes, and arranging conferences and events.
Answering queries raised by service users.
Skills and Experience:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organisation skills.
IT literate with good typing skills and confident using a range of programmes including email, G suite, etc.
Time management skills and the ability to prioritise their workload effectively
Customer service skills
Problem-solving skills and the ability to come up with creative solutions to issues.
Able to work with a team, take directions from others and collaborate effectively.
Wellbeing Hub Peer Support Volunteer
Key Information:
2 hours volunteering per week, term time only (39 weeks)
Location: Walnut Tree Sports Pavilion MK7 7DE.
Start date: 27th February 2024
Key Responsibilities:
Support the facilitation of the Wellbeing Hub.
Help with the service as required by Staff. e.g. setting up tables and chairs at the beginning of the session, providing refreshments, and packing away after.
Welcome young people to the Wellbeing Hub ensuring they feel comfortbable and safe.
Provide emotional support and encouragement to the young people accessing the Hub.
Promote good mental health and wellbeing for individuals by actively listening to young people who may require someone to talk to.
Encourage access to other relevant signposting to internal and external services, if needed.
Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to a member of staff.
Ensure confidentiality and boundaries within the Wellbeing Hubs.
Attending training sessions and meetings as required.
Skills and Experience:
18- 25 year olds
Lived experience of poor mental health to motivate and inspire others as per the peer support model.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport and relationships with a range of people.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Great active listening skills.
An understanding of mental health and wellbeing.
To be non-judgemental.

Wellbeing Hub Volunteer
Key Information:
2 hours volunteering per week, term time only (39 weeks)

Educational Facilitator (Volunteer)
Key Information:
Various timings - 1 hour, half day, and full day opportunities.
Location: Across Milton Keynes.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the facilitation of the Education and Training services.
Facilitate and co-facilitate workshops and training programmes to a range of external organisations.
Design and deliver learning activities and presentations, both online and in-person.
Support organisations to improve their mental health and wellbeing services.
Be part of a dynamic team that offers a wide range of learning opportunities.
Collaborate with other internal teams to offer holistic support for service users.
Skills and Experience:
No experience necessary, training, induction and support will be given throughout.
Be a confident communciator
Be able to think on your feet and respond to questions that can feel challenging.
Have awareness of mental health and wellbeing.
Social Media Volunteer
Key Information:
Flexible Hours to suit.
Location: Working from Home, travel within Milton Keynes for events.
Responsibilities:
Establishing an / or maintaining active social media accounts.
Researching and creating content for different social media channels.
Promoting You Mental opportunities and news. (services, campaigns, fundraising, etc.)
Thinking of innovative ways to drive online engagement.
Identifying target audiences and being up to date with current trends.
Skills and Experience:
You do no need specific skills and experience as training will be provided, but the following will be useful:
Commitment to You Mental's mission and values.
Experience of using a variety of social media channels.
Good written communication skills and attention to detail.
A professional manner when communicating online.
Ability to be creative and innovative.
Ad Hoc Volunteer
Ad hoc volunteering allows individuals to dip in and out of volunteering to meet their needs. Individuals are added to a bank of volunteers who will be invited to support when needed.
We cannot guarantee volunteering opportunities to suit everyone's needs, so we will check in with our bank of volunteers once a year to see if they want to remain on the list.
Potential Ad Hoc Opportunities:
Event Support - setting up / running stalls / events.
Fundraising Opportunities - Plan, run, and organise events as part of a team, or complete individual challenges.
